TELEPORTATION.
Just think about it. As a consumer, this would be TOTALLY full of awesome, because you could order food from anywhere in the world and have it teleported to your home (I'm thinking personal transporters here, people). Fresh crepes from France? Yum. Fresh Mediterranean pasta dishes? Double yum. That sausage gravy and biscuits I've been craving for weeks, straight from somewhere in backwoods Alabama? I can't even control my hunger at this time.
I don't think this will happen, unfortunately, for the following reason: it would totally screw businesses in the food service industry. If everyone could order crepes from France, who would order them from French-style places in the U.S.? How many restaurants stay in business because they're "the closest thing to Italian around here," and other such nonsense?
On the other hand, it would ultimately lower transportation fees (and therefore the cost of food), lower greenhouse gas emissions, and probably eradicate world hunger. So who's working on this teleportation thing? Anyone? We've gotta get on this!
