THANKS VERDI.

So, here's a post because I didn't post last week. Sorry, all you hoards of people that read the regurgitatings of my life! (It's a word now, okay)

So, the opera went off well, with only four people falling on stage and one concussion. Jesus. You'd think we'd have done MacBeth. In other news, now have a new cast of characters in my life who I like a lot. They are as follows:

1. Matt: snarky, doctoral student at the University (a la, I will call him Dr. Matt someday!) and real funny. We even went out last weekend with other opera folks (although, I had some hitches in the awk department along the lines of abandoning him to a psychopath person, so perhaps next time we should just go for coffee and skip the Heather drinking a lot part? On the plus side some of the drinks involved were called "Shark Attack"s where you squeeze Grenadine into your drink out of a little plastic shark. I saved all three of the sharks and will probably give them to Nora Mathews because I don't know anyone who likes Grenadine more than her. Also, this was a really long parenthetical, for anyone who's keeping track)
2. Mark: did hair and makeup for the show, real real funny and thinks I'm funny too (as you know, a character trait I hold in high esteem). He saved me from wearing an ugly ugly bonnet so I got to wear a pretty orange wreath instead. He will probably cut/color my hair the next time I have it done.
3. Alex: played the scary scary statue and was very very scary about it in his statue makeup. Thing is, I don't even know him that well, but I like his vibe? Is that weird? That's weird I think, but whatevs, it's true.
4. Angela: apparently from Rome, NY where her family owns a sweet bakery on James St. with the best tomato pie in the CNY!!!! Who knew??? Neither one of us knew the other one knew about Rome until my parents saw the program. Then she said she was going to adopt me. Good times!!!

Does four make a cast of characters? I think it does.

Tonight, I went to go see the Baroque Ensemble concert at BingU, which was most enjoyable except for the poor cellist who had all the tuning problems, a la his cello fell out of tune always so he was kind of tuning on the fly during the concert? I was a little scared for him but he always looked like he was having such fun so I'm sure he was fine. Also, the immortal Paul Schleuse sang, and while he's definitely a musicologist and not a singer, he was pretty great! His pitch was certainly very good, and he looked like he was enjoying himself so much it was hard not to giggle just out of enjoyment! Major hearts for him!

Am currently applying to summer programs, which may take me either to Chautaqua or to the Wesley-Balk Institute. W-B is much less expensive, but it's not as much about singing, so...idk? Either way I need to work up an aria or two and possibly a recording to make shit happen. Also this summer my sister and I are planning on taking a road trip to see all the relatives we never see because they live far away. This would involve going to Ohio, Illinois, Texas, and North Carolina, and then back home. It'll be quite the trip...also can you imagine my sister and me in a car for two weeks? Do it now. Yeah. It's going to be all the insane. And also fun.

The big news of my life is that tomorrow, I leave for Maine to visit Meg Payseur and also to see Becca Gross! They are my loves always and I will be so excited to see them! Unfortunately due to issues called my schooling I will not be able to leave until noon, so I will arrive there at like 8pm at the earliest? Whatevs, it will still be all the fun, and I recently purchased a new charger for my bluetooth phone headset so I can talk whilst I drive and also not kill anyone.

WOO NOT KILLING.

Whoa...that doesn't sound like something I'd usually say.

In other news we will be having Thanksgiving at my Uncle Jim's house this year because our kitchen will be torn apart. Yes, this is Uncle "If you want to bring your World of Warcraft guild here that's fine just let me know so I can get the antlers off the floor" Jim. It should be hilarious and there will be all the pictures.

Also, last night I watched an eighties production of I Lombardi semi-starring Jose Carreras involving some really inappropriate Kismet-esque gold lamee genie pants and Swamp Thing. I guess you had to be there?

So the point is, now whenever anything goes wrong, you just blame Verdi, 'cause he won't care. Just look at the sky and give him a real obnoxious and sarcastic "THANKS VERDI." After a production like that, he might deserve it.
