Didn't your mother teach you not to be rude? Give me a freakin' break.

I hate it when people interrupt me when I'm on the phone at work. Seriously, I'm sitting here listening to your crap and you could at least let me finish my question or my reply before you interject what you have to say. It's one thing to jump the gun with your credit card's expiration date and it's another thing entirely to scream your CVV code at me when I haven't yet finished asking "And do you have the 3-digit security code from the back of the card?" Really, I'm impressed that you knew what I was going to ask you. Really. I don't just want to take your head off for being a mouthy jackass.

Or really, interrupting me when I answer the phone? "[Name of the place where I work], this is Heather how can I help you?" barely got out of my mouth once today because everyone who called was like "Yeah whatever here is my stupid question in a rude tone of voice because you wanting to do your job correctly makes me upset for a reason that is totally dumb."

Or even people who answer the phone and sound angry...that's the worst. Look, you called me buddy. I didn't ask to be talking to you, I'm just calling you back like you ASKED ME TO. Let's just get through this, all right?

It's a good thing there isn't a "life abort" button on my phone, because a lot of people would be in trouble if that were so!

All of these bitching about work posts make me remember how much I hate food service. We both need jobs that don't make us want to jump over the counter/through the phone to strangle folks.

June the Homemaker, perhaps? Cross fingers.

i can't agree more. people who do this are uniformly pissed off at either the days they're having or at their lives in general, and can't manage their anger for shit. there are few crueller acts in day-to-day business than yelling over the phone at someone who's dutifully trying to help, who takes untold amounts of unwarranted abuse per hour, and who, as an employee, can never fight back. it's like hitting someone while she's down.

for my part, i take for granted that whoever i'm talking to is trying to do her job. maybe more people will start to realise this over time...i'll cross my fingers for you.
